Aging with positive attitude

Happiness and joy is what we live for. Happy older woman

Aging is a natural process that should be embraced. You could be a grandma and still be as cool as ever :). The secret is to live life to the fullest by doing the right things.Happiness and joy is what we live for. Happy older woman

So how do you become a hip grandma? There are plenty of things to make that happen. Some of the things you should consider are:

  • Clothing
  • Hair and makeup
  • Health
  • Technology
  • Attitude

Clothing
You can be cool without having to be a teenager. Your clothes do not have to be too out-of-touch with the trends either. You don’t have to try too hard to look super young, there are fashion code rules that you can follow that will make you look modern. The hemline length and neckline should be carefully decided.

A mature woman wearing a mini dress with a plunging neckline will raise eyebrows—for the wrong reasons. Unfortunately, I have seen a few grandmas or older ladies dressing like they are going out to the nightclub to get some attention….

A dress that exposes your cleavage, for example, is a no-no. Nothing more sad than looking at somebody who thinks they are hot and in reality you just want to give them a shawl to cover up. Wearing a V-neck would be just fine. You can show that you are aging with a positive attitude by dressing smartly while minding the fashion. If you have a great figure, it won’t hurt to flaunt it. That means you have to wear what fits but not too exposing, baggy or tight.

Find a store that is fashion conscious about women your age. They do stock nice, fitting clothes in the right colors. You can find younger looking clothes that show you care about your appearance even as you age.

Hair and makeup
Hip grandmas take care their hair and makeup as seriously as when they were in their twenties. Aging gracefully does not mean letting yourself go. You can still do subtle makeup that will help maintain your beauty. The hair doesn’t have to be what you used to wear in your teens. That would probably take you back to the 70s or 80s style.

Mature but stylish should be your mantra. Even your grand kids will be proud to go out to the mall with you if you look that great. You can retain grey hair if you wish and still look awesome. Some hip grandmas choose to color their hair. Just don’t choose a color that is too loud for a mature person. You may go to a professional to color your hair, but DYIs work just as well.

While you are at it, remember that times have changed. What used to be trendy could be outdated. However, the fashion industry at times brings back what used to be fashionable. If you find that the clothes that used to rock in your days are back in fashion, then go for it.

Technology
Embracing new technology can help your life for better. A mobile phone, for instance, is not too difficult to use, and it will give you the convenience that you need to be in touch with your family and keep updated. Being online is a must these days and it really keeps us connected in ways we never thought possible.

Being able to navigate your electronic devices, such as your mobile phone, tablet or laptop will elevate your status in your grandkids eyes and will give them a greater appreciation of you being a hip grandma and not thinking of you as an old lady who is out of touch.

Health
The secret to aging positively is being healthy. Eat the right food and do lots of exercise to avoid trips to the doctor. If you are healthy, you will have time and energy to do other important stuff. You can engage in things such as:

  • Reading
  • Gardening
  • Writing
  • Exercising (golfing, dancing, etc)
  • Taking up classes to learn new things (ie. a new language, computers)

Being a grandma is no big deal these days; you can become a grandmother at a relatively young age. It is not about sitting in your rocking chair and cooking or knitting the whole day. You can spend your time being active and happy. After all, now you have more time to do whatever you want.
